Kate returns from war and goes on a camping trip with her friends. They come across strange people living off the land and befriend a group of rock climbers. After their friend goes missing, the women team up with the climbers to survive their hike.

In this film Helen Holmes was clearly rehearsing for the role that brought to her fame and recognition in a serial that started getting released two months later. She became the audacious star of "The Hazards of Helen", acting as the heroine of numerous railroad adventures.

Three hikers hike the Appalachian Trail as they encounter something strange. One of them unknowingly gets infected with an unknown virus that begins to change him. They encounter an eccentric police officer who apparently has something to hide. Along the trail, they find an abandoned campsite that has been completely torn to shreds. Even in the nearby towns, the people seem isolated and terrified. With the illness taking its toll, the towns people start to hunt them down in this chase for survival.

When two campers on a peaceful weekend excursion are suddenly confronted, harassed, and molested by a pack of heavily armed outdoorsman, a brutal series of events ensues.
