Come in Rangoon

Dr. Laura Bowman is a young widow who's unwittingly drawn into political turmoil while vacationing in Burma in the late 1980s. Bowman initially left San Francisco with her sister in an attempt to escape painful memories of her husband and son's violent deaths. But her fight to escape to Thailand could prove just as harrowing.

Julia travels to the Indo-Burma border to perform for the troops during the World War II, on the insistence of Billimoria, her lover. She finds herself in love with Jemadar Malik, a soldier there.

The life of three youngsters, who go to Rangoon to strike a business deal, witnesses several twists and turns, for which they pay heavy price.

Apparitions, mystical presences and lost stories from São Paulo and Rangoon are discovered over the course of a summer in the future. São Paulo spots are visited by people from the same family in 1991 and then around 30 or 40 years later. Meanwhile, family archives and memories in Tropical America and in Magical Asia are revealed.
