Judgment & Grace
The story takes place at the time of the defeat of the Hungarian War of Independence, when Csákberény came under the terror of the imperial soldiers. Two priests from the village are arrested overnight for reading the Hungarian Declaration of Independence. Although the Austrian soldiers enjoy their power, they are unable to identify with the repression. The purpose of the trial of a military imprisonment court is to obtain a confession, to prove that a violation of sovereignty has been committed.
The banquet
Right after the Red Army in 1944 was deliberating a little village, Veszto in eastern Hungary, the locals formed their "government", excommunicated the goods remaining in the village and distributed them among the poor. The social experiment only lasted two months, but this episode later became infamous in the communist press of Hungary and was referred to as 'Republic of Veszto'. 35 years later, in 1979, the actors and the witnesses, the representatives of the communist administration back then and the poors of the village get together in a little pub in Veszto and try to resuscitate and evaluate those old days. The memories clash one another.
Oliara
The 30s of the last century. Hungarian Istvan Magyar, a member of the International Communist International, is sentenced to death by firing squad. However, he is being sent from Moscow to the Kazakh steppe to atone for his "political guilt." He gets into the operational detachment of the OGPU of Karabai, which is engaged in the search and confiscation of Kulak cattle. The photographer of the Red Army detachment, Istvan Magyar, on a campaign across the winter steppe for the cattle of the poor, changes his views on the revolution. From the position of a European and a humanist, Istvan is stunned by the Holodomor and the brutality of the OGPU fighters. A Hungarian communist rebels and finds like-minded locals in Kubabas village. Together they are trying to fight the red tyranny.
