After a deadly storm, Tom and Jerry find themselves stranded on an unknown island ruled by the evil Wizard of Oz. As they try to find their way back home, they worry for their master Dorothy's safety.

They cause flowers and birds to open and human forms to issue therefrom, and on the black background of the wonderful garden there appear myriad flowers, in the center of each of which is a smiling feminine head. Tableaux showing pretty girl and flower effects are plentiful and the film winds up with a burst of multi-colored flame, which shoots in fiery splendor from leaves and petals.

A little girl catches floral patterns with a magic cloth and uses them to make her own pretty dresses. Every night, ants move her house from one field to the next. One day, a seed drops into her mouth and a young shoot sprouts from her navel.

Former child star Connie Chan Po-chu fitted the bill perfectly with her doe-eyed innocence framed by silky long hair. In Girls are Flowers, she plays a young tutor falling in love with a handsome boy. However, their road to romance is paved with potholes and speed bumps. Chan's fellow former child star Nancy Sit plays the boy's younger sister who saves the day with her shrewd, nimble-minded plans. Sit's role may be small but with radiance from her glorious smile and beaming personality, she brightens up this musical romantic comedy like a fairy-tale nymph.

Portraits appropriated from old films and magazines become anonymized: Radiant tulips and spiky cacti whir behind cut-out mattes of peoples' heads. The flowers rotate, dance, pulsate. A botanical fever dream unfolds, framed by lustrous hair, pearl necklaces, evening gowns or gray uniforms.
