Lawrence of Arabia
The story of British officer T.E. Lawrence's mission to aid the Arab tribes in their revolt against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War. Lawrence becomes a flamboyant, messianic figure in the cause of Arab unity but his psychological instability threatens to undermine his achievements.
The Real Lawrence Of Arabia
A British Intelligence Officer known as Thomas Edward Lawrence conducted daring raids during World War I which made him a legend. But how did this man become the renowned ‘Lawrence of Arabia?’ This fascinating history documentary explores the character behind the man and tries to explain how he came to lead a small band of Arab fighters against the fourth largest army in the world.
Desert Sol
Shot in the desert of the Mojave Desert, a lonesome wanderer stumbles across an abandoned shack. After sifting through the rubble he comes across a box of old 16mm movie reels. The wanderer brings them home to see what he found: he discovers a lost porn from an old abandoned company. In the desert, the sun isn't the only thing that sizzles; so does this hotter than hell cast.
A Desert Dilemma
A rather old-fashioned, fairly surreal animated Aetna car insurance advertisement from 1930.
Challenge the Wilderness
This MGM short is a promo for their upcoming feature Westward the Women (1951), which was filmed on location in Utah. The film introduces the stars, including Robert Taylor, but focuses primarily on the challenges of filming on location. The rugged countryside provides a beautiful backdrop but provides few facilities for film making. Transportation, on site facilities for rehearsal, eating and daytime shelter all had to be provided. The shoot lasted approximately 8 weeks.
Desert Movie
Modern-day ramblers tumble through the desert and into trouble.
Bed Desert
My favorite of the program is BED DESERT (5 min, silent), which is something of an outlier. In this inventive little film, the ripples of bed sheets are juxtaposed with images of the desert (or are they?), the formal ruse playful and intriguing. -Karen Sachs

Desert Abstractions
"This is a film that I had wanted to make for many years. It was not until the summer of 1996 that I actually got it together and shot it. Again with the help of Steve Creson we packed up all our equipment and loaded on to a plane and flew to Arizona were we rented a car and drove around the desert for week and filmed everything that we thought looked interesting. This film is similar to the films in my urban landscapes series, only this film was shot in eye popping full color and there are no man made elements in this film at all. Lots of rock formations, colors, and shapes only things made my mother nature. This film also has a film score by RUBATO."
