A pomegranate diet girl

As bass guitarist for a garage-rock band, Scott Pilgrim has never had trouble getting a girlfriend; usually, the problem is getting rid of them. But when Ramona Flowers skates into his heart, he finds she has the most troublesome baggage of all: an army of ex-boyfriends who will stop at nothing to eliminate him from her list of suitors.

“The Pomegranate” tells the story of a woman; seeking her own justice. “The Pomegranate” questions the justice of four people with different beliefs in a house, in half a day and in their own realms of faith. Asuman is a fortune-teller with uncanny psychic powers who lives in the suburbs of Istanbul but tells fortunes of the rich at their own luxurious places.

The pomegranate tree is the story of an old woman who takes care of her grandson's only relic, which is a pomegranate tree, until the mischief of a few children changes everything.

A young, politically liberal, Iraqi Muslim immigrant struggles to find her footing in a neighborhood of well-to-do conservative, Iraqi Christians while battling her family's fears of deprivation and demands of loyalty to Muslim traditions.

"Pomegranate Tree" is an experimental film inspired by the lush and ceremonial paintings of the Qajar dynasty from Persia and Eli Langer's violent, aggressive sketches. The film is a subtle study of sensuality. Originally shot on Super 8 and blown up to 16mm, the film was made for the Splice This! Super 8 Festival in the summer of '98.

This short reel is a kind of cinematographic still-life: on the basis of an arrangement of pomegranates, the fruit emblematic of Granada, it combines animation (single-frame or stop-motion cinematography) and picto-luminic techniques which in turn draw on a whole battery of resources.
