Dragons waking up from underground

In post-apocalyptic England, an American volunteer and a British survivor team up to fight off a brood of fire-breathing dragons seeking to return to global dominance after centuries of rest underground. The Brit -- leading a clan of survivors to hunt down the King of the Dragons -- has much at stake: His mother was killed by a dragon, but his love is still alive.

Volcanologist Harry Dalton comes to the sleepy town of Dante's Peak to investigate the recent rumblings of the dormant volcano the burg is named for. Before long, his worst fears are realized when a massive eruption hits, and immediately, Harry, the mayor and the townspeople find themselves fighting for their lives amid a catastrophic nightmare.

Deep within the earth, an ancient evil has awakened. According to legend, three dragons shall re-emerge from the earth to wreak havoc upon the land. Preying upon the weak-willed, the dragon spirits grow stronger as they devour the innocent souls of their chosen hosts. Only the power of a long-dormant warrior-god can fulfill the ancient prophesy and defeat the growing evil. But will his chosen host be convinced to fight?

Set 1,300 years after the events of How to Train Your Dragon, dragons are now just a legend to the modern world. When a geological anomaly opens an immense, miles-deep fissure in the Earth’s surface, scientists from all over the world gather at a new research facility to study the mysterious phenomenon. Soon a group of misfit kids, brought to the site by their parents, uncover the truth about dragons and where they’ve been hiding -- a secret they must keep to themselves to protect what they’ve discovered.

By mixing a fantastic storyline and a substantial dose of documentary information about the myths and realities that surround dragons, the film provides an exciting voyage of discovery for audiences, as they learn about the benevolent dragons of China, the terrifying Wyverns of the British Isles, creation stories from Ancient cities of the Middle East and dangerous water monsters described in native North American legends.
