In the not-too-distant future, the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest struggle to negotiate for their immortality. A poor young man who suddenly comes into a fortune of time finds himself on the run from a corrupt police force known as the "time keepers".

The survivors of the first Waxwork must use a portal through time to defeat the evil that has followed them and turned their lives upside down.

400 years into the future, disease has wiped out the majority of the world's population, except one walled city, Bregna, ruled by a congress of scientists. When Æon Flux, the top operative in the underground 'Monican' rebellion, is sent on a mission to kill a government leader, she uncovers a world of secrets.

Æon Flux is set in a bizarre, dystopian future world. The title character is a tall, leather-clad secret agent from the nation of Monica, skilled in assassination and acrobatics. Her mission is to infiltrate the strongholds of the neighboring country of Bregna, which is led by her sometimes-nemesis and sometimes-lover Trevor Goodchild. Monica represents a dynamic anarchist society, while Bregna embodies a police state.

At the heart of the plot lies a conflict between a young woman and a bank employee over some hidden clauses in a mortgage deal. The 25-year old young woman is married and works as manager; she is paying off a long-term mortgage. One day she finds out that she has an incurable disease and that her husband, an airline steward, has perished in an air crash. The insurance sum is sufficient to cover the mortgage in one lump sum... An allusion to people trading the best years of their life for an apartment, only in this case the trade is literally between an apartment and life.
