Old movie, magic mirror, sideways sidewalk

After a deadly storm, Tom and Jerry find themselves stranded on an unknown island ruled by the evil Wizard of Oz. As they try to find their way back home, they worry for their master Dorothy's safety.

Young Dorothy finds herself in a magical world where she makes friends with a lion, a scarecrow and a tin man as they make their way along the yellow brick road to talk with the Wizard and ask for the things they miss most in their lives. The Wicked Witch of the West is the only thing that could stop them.

A woman sits in front of her dressing table mirror, looking at her jewellery and her reflection in the mirror. Suddenly, another woman appears in the mirror. As the woman watches, the image changes to other women. As the woman looks at her jewellery, women's faces begin to appear in the jewellery stones.

The famed Hall of Mirrors sequence of Welles' classic noir The Lady from Shanghai is transformed through a succession of four algorithmic progressions of split screen patterns. The result is hypnotic, kaleidoscopic and a bit uncanny.

Silhouettes of figures on the sidewalk mingle with twisted contours which slide across the surface of the curved mirror, and then all disappear in the exposed and hand processed film, so that their ephemeral nature is projected into the heart of the disturbed scenes.
