I want to remember

Leonard Shelby is tracking down the man who raped and murdered his wife. The difficulty of locating his wife's killer, however, is compounded by the fact that he suffers from a rare, untreatable form of short-term memory loss. Although he can recall details of life before his accident, Leonard cannot remember what happened fifteen minutes ago, where he's going, or why.

The ghost of a lesbian high-school girl takes revenge on the people who used to bully her. And another young girl finds her old diary detailing her love and rejection when she was alive.

I Want to Remember is about personal memory - the unforgettable moments in our lives, whether sweet, bitter or bizarre. Good or bad, these life moments inform and influence the way we act, giving us strength in adversity and solace in sadness. But most importantly, memories give us hope; the hope to look forward to each coming day, in quiet anticipation of the next unforgettable moment that will add to our life story.

Set and shot chronologically in natural light over one hour at dusk, I REMEMBER materialized out of this sense of intangible loss and a desire to hold on to memories that, however fleeting, give our lives meaning.
