Lonesome church. Guy leaves on boat and dies

Old Captain Bill and his wife have an only son, whom they idolize. He loses all his money at gambling and drinking, and determines to do better in the city. After a short absence he writes his people that he has secured a good position, is saving money, and will be home before long. A year or two later he arrives in town and on his way to his home passes the old saloon he used to patronize. He cannot resist the temptation, and goes in. He falls in with a lot of bad fellows and is robbed. Ashamed to go home, he ships on board a sailing vessel.

A lone fisherman on his daily run finds himself lost in a thick fog which proves impossible to navigate. The worst is yet to come when his encounter with a seemingly abandoned sailboat becomes a fight for survival against an enemy unknown.

A love story unfolds between a girl and a young man in one of the coastal areas. They become involved in a physical relationship, resulting in her becoming pregnant. Tragically, her lover dies in an accident. Fearing disgrace, she attempts suicide, but is rescued by a kind-hearted fisherman who falls in love with her and cares for her in his small cottage. However, the girl dies after giving birth to their child, leaving the fisherman in shock.

Bob and his wife Linda accompany his brother Jim on a sailing cruise to Costa Rica, where Jim will start as a missionary. In a terrible storm their boat flips over. Jim believes the accident was a sign from god and throws away their distilling apparatus and food - "You shall not interfere with god's will". However nobody knows they're lost, so no one searches them for weeks.
