In the 1980s, a filmmaker begins a project to record the life of an average kid. In Perry, Ohio, he picks Rich Longfellow, a shy lad, and begins filming. Soon after, he dies in Mozambique. Sixteen years later, his son continues the project, finding Rich, now 23, in L.A., with dreams of being a Shakespearean actor, getting experience in porn films. We meet Betsy, Rich's sensible girlfriend, Lee, the impatient producer, and Carmichael, a director with artistic pretensions who inspires Rich. Problems with Besty and tension on the set bring Rich to a crisis; when his boyhood friend starts a Shakespeare company that tours nursing homes in the San Fernando Valley, Rich sees a way out.

The film is set in 1611 on a single night where Shakespeare (Amendola) is at a crisis point in his career. It’s about how writers age, their jealousies, resentments, and regrets, why they can’t revisit their old glories, and how their writing can overwhelm their life. Shakespeare has sacrificed much of his family life for his theatrical success and now—haunted with guilt about missing his young son’s death to the plague—he is forced to reflect on the price at which glory comes.

Struggling actor Wayne Wenders has to look for other options to pay his increasingly late rent and ends up interviewing for a gig teaching Shakespeare at the local high school. Wayne is soon surprising himself with his love of the job—and for fellow English teacher Amy. He must ultimately decide if his dreams of stardom are really worth sacrificing everything for.

The combustion makes "The Bard," played by comedic genius Jason D. Johnson, the most controversial screenwriter in Hollywood.

A satiric film travesty of Shakespeare's dramas set in the year 2000. The protagonists are to convince the audience that human passions such as love, hatred, jealousy, etc. remain unchanged even 500 years later (paralleling the up-to-date quality of Shakespeare's dramas).
