Hippo promises not to eat Ngai's little fishes in exchange for being allowed to live in the cool water instead of on dry land.

Under the hot sun of Anran, a sweating hippo mother walked into the cooling water of the river. Her little hippo kid wanted to do the same, but he found out soon enough that he was too small to walk like his mother. At the bottom of the river he caught the attention of one little fish, and then another fish, and then two fish. Together they thought up a solution...

A flying hippo on a quest to find the nearest pond. A fish behind the wheel, fleeing from a shark. A little koala who wants to hop like the kangaroos, and a raucous mob of elephants throwing a party – which drives the monkeys up the wall. There's never a dull moment in these four colourfully animated episodes from the animal kingdom, enlivened by the groovy jazz sounds of award-winning Swedish quintet Oddjob.

The jungle animals and creatures have all come to the point where they are living together in peace and harmony, thanks to the efforts of the great Mighty Mouse. But the peace is broken when the buzzards attack a helpless baby hippo. The super hero is kept busy fighting off the attacks of the sneaky buzzards while also catering to the needs and whims of the hippo. Finally, after the attackers are vanquished, all the animal parents leave their babies with Mighty Mouse as their baby-sitter.

Hippo, a peculiar adolescent, and his Hungarian step-sister Buttercup struggle to come of age in late 1990s America, under the roof of a mother who has been institutionalized at least once.
