Grandma is from timbuktu

Xixo is back again. This time, his children accidentally stow away on a fast-moving poachers' truck, unable to get off, and Xixo sets out to rescue them. Along the way, he encounters a couple of soldiers trying to capture each other and a pilot and passenger of a small plane, who are each having a few problems of their own.

Teta Kaabour is an 83-year old family matriarch and sharp-witted queen bee of an old Beiruti quarter. She’s been gripped as of late by the silence of her once-buzzing household where she raised children and grandchildren. Resigned to Argileh smoking and day-long coffee drinking on a now-empty balcony, Teta now invokes the deepest memories of her violinist husband who died twenty years ago. She claims a preparedness to re-unite with him.

An observation of a Grandma's life. Every day, Grandma greets a wide range of characters, most of them typically in need of something. Her family uses her house as a magnet, visiting practically every day. Just like her home itself, she has always been there for her family.

"Dear grandma, you’ll be surprised to hear my voice in your language…'" In Oumoun Brussels filmmaker Fairuz Ghammam plays the recording of a spoken letter that was never sent to her elderly grandmother in Mahdia, Tunisia. In the company of the camera, the lines become a voice over, as we witness a dialogue across languages, across cultures, across generations.
