A young, stressed-out couple moves from the city of Madrid to a nearby town seeking peace and quiet. To their dismay, they discover their new home is right next to the rehearsal space of a loud municipal brass band composed of elderly residents. The husband, a musician himself, eventually ends up taking over the direction of the band. After initial friction and humorous confrontations with the stubborn older members, they bond together to compete in a prestigious musical contest.

In the district of Gracia, in Barcelona, ​​a nasty old woman shares a flat with a young man, non-conformist. The guy is struggling to find his place in the world. A small town has its placid waters rocked when a 120-piece orchestra is slated to visit on a regular basis to offer special concerts to the community and its environs. The honor of conducting the orchestra seems like it will fall to Francesco (Michele Placido), the community's most well-established music teacher, and to insure his success, his ambitious wife starts sleeping with one of the organizers of the future concerts. Meanwhile, a disgruntled member of the organizing committee decides to muddy the waters by suggesting that another conductor (Andrea, a friend of Francesco's) be hired. Andrea is also a native son who went to the big city to find conducting work but ended up doing television jobs instead. When he receives the call about the prestigious job opportunity, he enthusiastically goes to the town but his wife refuses to join him.

The composer Berki András, in his co-tenancy noisy with the barking of dogs and the hullabaloo of children, is unable to compose the new song for his fiancée, the singer, although the premiere is near. He cannot believe his eyes as he sees the official decision that he will soon get an apartment on his own. Yet his joy is soon over. The pharmacist Ács Éva arrives with identical documents. The situation which evolves as a result of the new co-tenancy forces them to cover up things before their partners.

In the small Dutch village of Lagerheide, two members of the local brass band get into a fight, forcing the band to be split in two. The two hotheads and their followers are doing their utmost to sabotage each other’s attempts at becoming the band who will represent the village at the upcoming brass band competition.

After a year living in London, Edu backs out of an audition for the British Music Academy, and returns home to his sleepy hometown outside Valencia feeling doubtful, reserved and depressed. In a matter of days his brother will be married and amidst all the excitement he is unwilling to admit to his family and friends his cowardice. In the days leading to the impending nuptials, Edu will reconnect with old friends, strike up with his old band and longingly pine for the gorgeous Alicia. The catch is that Alicia also happens to be the girlfriend of Edu’s best friend Juanma. But anything and everything can happen in a short period of time, and as each day passes, Edu’s perceptions change as he learns that those closest to him also hold secrets of their own.

Bored 15-year-old school chums Rai Manu and Javi dream of sexual adventures and exotic resorts while the well-off population of Madrid flock to the beaches on a summer holiday. The youths hang around the concrete wasteland killing time by reading the sex classifieds and pushing their luck. They masturbate, thieve, fight with their families and get involved in a drug bust. Finally Rai, the most daring and restless of the trio - gets shot while trying to steal stereo gear from a car. Each adolescent faces a dreary home life but when they get together they enjoy each other's company to the full. The film is an engaging mixture of comedy drama and the pathos of life in a Madrid neighborhood.

Chema, is an introvert with an analytical mind whereas Nacho is an extrovert with tons of charisma. They want to form a band, but have no idea how to do it. They have made demos but nobody likes them, not even themselves. Nacho's parents are constantly comparing him to his brother, and they pressure him to be more like him. Chema is forced to sing in the church choir. But one day they discover that that Penny, their music teacher, has a past which might help them become a better band. They decide they must convince her to help them. They ask Ana, Mica and Gonzalez to join them and are now ready for Penny's lessons. Chema will seek to find his own voice and face his fears while Nacho will make an effort to take the important things in life more seriously.

A local brass band rehearses for a music competition in Bruges. They are confident that a new march by a young music teacher will get them the first prize. Their chance of winning seems to get an awful lot smaller when a a fight breaks out between the chairman and the music teacher -- urging the latter to sell the march to another band.

Pablo is a twenty-year-old man who wants to be a musician in order to be appreciated by his mother and find a male partner he can share his love with. He finds one, but because of his demanding behaviour, he is soon alone again. He tries to become a French horn player in the Youth Spain National Orchestra, but the examiner turns out to be his father, who's been living apart from his family and doesn't really accept Pablo's sexual trends. Once Pablo fails in his exam, he feels very depressed. When another French horn player from Valencia hasn't got a place to sleep, Pablo takes him home to his house. The next morning, however, he finds a girl named Salome inside of his bed.
