Photographer Robert Kincaid wanders into the life of housewife Francesca Johnson for four days in the 1960s.

Rain on Film tells the story of a cinema-obsessed young woman (Josie Long) who attempts to 'direct' her own real-life romance with Dan (Rupert Hill) - a boy she meets at her local cinema café - as if it were film. What follows is the funny, touching, and somewhat cinematic consequences of her vision. Rain on Film is a bittersweet love story which explores the ways in which cinema can construct and skew our perspective of what love and romance really are.

"The film alternates from recording in time-lapse (one frame every ten seconds) to running through the camera at 24 f.p.s. (regular speed). The film was made in a continuous heavy rainstorm, and the front element of the Angenieux lens accumulated drops of rain on its surface until the view became obscured. The bursts of film at normal speed occur just after the lens had been wiped dry to reveal the trees, marsh grass, and watersedge in clear sharp focus beyond" William Raban

Everything was not planned. We started the day, in a basement in Queens, New York, watching a Japanese cult film, Rainy Dog, which was shot in my hometown, Taipei, Taiwan. Hand-processed and solarized the film to hide the anxiety of unsureness. This film is a part of the Camera Rolls series by Erica Sheu.

This short film is a celebration of Irish rain. A bride-to-be recalls pivotal moments in her relationship that all took place in a shower a drizzle or a downpour.
